Examining into antiquity, (we find that ) the emperor Shun was styled Chong-hua. He corresponded to the (former ) emperor, he was profound, wise, accomplished, and intelligent. He was mild and respectful, and truly sincere. The report of his mysterious virtue was heard on high, and he was appointed to occupy the imperial seat.
