Concentrated Meditation
This term is originated in Buddhism.
1. The Chinese translation of the Sanskritterms Dhyana, meaning deep contemplativepractice or absorption. Mundane meditation:the four Dhyanas on the form-realms and theeight concentrations, i.e. four on the form realmsand four on the formless realms. Supra-mundane meditation: the three vehicles thatcarry living beings across mortality to the shoresof nirvana.
2. According to the Platform Sutra of the SixthPatriarch (Liu Zu Tan Jing), the first word 'chan'means the mind being flee from the limitations ofthe body; The second word 'ding' means still andquiet mind.
