This book is the first volume of the Chinese Ancient Sages series. Lao Zi is a renowned thinker in Spring and Autumn Period of China. He couldnt bear the declining of Zhou Kingdom so he decided to leave his home and travel around. He had to pass the Hangu Pass if he wanted to go out of the kingdom. Yinxi, the man in charge of Hangu Pass, respected Lao Zi a lot and he was very happy to hear about Lao Zis coming. However, he felt regretful that Lao Zi was leaving and tried to let him stay. So he offered a condition for Lao Zi to let him pass, which was giving him a work of Lao Zi. Lao Zi agreed and stayed in Hangu Pass for several days, writing down a five-thousand-word monograph named Tao Te Ching, which was thereafter passed down from one generation to another.
