The Summer Palace corridor was built in Qianlong fifteen years of Qing Dynasty (1750), afterwards it was burned down by British and French troops. In Guangxu twelve years (1886) it was reconstructed. The corridor starting from the Yaoyue Gate in the east to the Shizhang pavilion in the west takes the Paiyun Gate as its center, and 4 pavilions symbolizing the four seasons were symmetrical built on both sides of the corridor. This corridor, with a total length of 728 meters, is the longest one in the classical gardens in China. There is also a colorful gallery inside the corridor, on each of its girders and beams painted more than 8,000 beautiful paintings. In 1990, this corridor as put into the Guinness Book of World Records for its length abundant color paintings.
