Chinese Paradiseis a series of children’selementary Chinese textbooks targeted at primary school students in othercountries; it is a key textbook project of Hanban. Itsfirst English edition was published in 2005, followed by a succession of 45language editions of the Level 1 books. At present, the series has been sold tomore than 50 countries and areas in the world, been widely used in primary andmiddle schools overseas and become the most popular overseas children’s Chinesetextbooks.Since 2013 Beijing Languageand Culture University Press has begun to revise the published books andcompile the follow-ups. The second edition of the whole series has altogethersix levels, suitable for students of Grades 1-6 in primary schools outside ofChina and in international schools in China. Each level comprises one textbook(with a CD), one workbook (with a CD), one set of word cards (for all languageeditions), one teacher’s book (for all language editions), one correspondingreader, one set of tests, and four multimedia CD-ROMs.This is Textbook 3 of the second Spanish edition, including sixunits, 12 lessons. Each lesson teaches 1-2 Chinese characters, about 10 newwords and one basic sentence pattern. To bespecific, the contentsinvolve interactive sentence patterns, new words, learning of Chinesecharacters, explanations of Chinese culture in the learner’s native languagewith illustrations, handicrafts, songs, stories and other games and activities.After finishing this book, students will be able to say a few simple sentences,sing some Chinese children’s songs and get some knowledge about Chineseculture.

Liu Fuhua is the deputydean of College of the Humanities and International Language College of JilinUniversity, whose research involves teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,international Chinese teaching materials, and international Chinese education.Ms. Liu has engaged in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language since 1985and has presided over several key textbook projects planned by Hanban. She haspublished two academic books, GeneralDiscussions on Linguisticsand ChinesePronunciation Training Course, five international Chinese textbooks andmore than 30 academic papers on international Chinese education, etc.
