Chinese Paradiseis a series of children’s elementary Chinesetextbooks targeted at primary school students in other countries; it is a keytextbook project of Hanban. Its first English edition was published in 2005,followed by a succession of 45 language editions of the Level 1 books. Atpresent, the series has been sold to more than 50 countries and areas in theworld, been widely used in primary and middle schools overseas and become themost popular overseas children’s Chinese textbooks.Since 2013 Beijing Language and Culture UniversityPress has begun to revise the published books and compile the follow-ups. Thesecond edition of the whole series has altogether six levels, suitable forstudents of Grades 1-6 in primary schools outside of China and in internationalschools in China. Each level comprises one textbook (with a CD), one workbook(with a CD), one set of word cards (for all language editions), one teacher’sbook (for all language editions), one corresponding reader, one set of tests,and four multimedia CD-ROMs.This is Workbook 3 of the second Spanishedition matching Textbook 3, including six units, 12lessons. Each lesson provides 6-8 exercises, falling into four sections—ChinesePinyin, Chinesecharacters, words andconversations, which are supported by dynamic and innovative illustrations anddesigns and take lively and interesting forms, such as placing stickers,coloring, drawing lines, and solving mazes, etc. There are in additiontopic-relevant handicraft activities. Liu Fuhua is the deputydean of College of the Humanities and International Language College of JilinUniversity, whose research involves teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,international Chinese teaching materials, and international Chinese education.Ms. Liu has engaged in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language since 1985and has presided over several key textbook projects planned by Hanban. She haspublished two academic books,GeneralDiscussions on LinguisticsandChinesePronunciation Training Course, five international Chinese textbooks andmore than 30 academic papers on international Chinese education, etc.
