FAQ
Q: Can I create a list by taking a photo of my textbook?
A: Yes, and it's perfect for mobile users! On your phone, switch to the Convert Image tab. You can snap a photo of a vocabulary list in your textbook right then and there. Our system will scan the image, extract the Chinese text, and instantly turn it into a neat, digital word list for you.
Q: Can I paste a list of words I already have (like from an Excel sheet)?
A: Definitely. Go to the Import List tab. You can paste your existing list and tell our system how it's formatted (for example, whether the words and definitions are separated by a comma or a Tab). We'll parse it and build your interactive list in seconds.
Q: The text I pasted has a lot of simple words I already know. Can I filter them out?
A: Yes, this is a huge time-saver! Before you click "Generate List," look for the Ignore Words setting. You can tell the system to automatically skip duplicate words, filter out basic HSK 1-6 vocabulary, or even exclude words you've already saved to your personal "My Words" library.
A: Yes! Every time you generate a list, it gets its own unique URL. Just save that link to visit your list anytime.
If you're logged into your account, it's even easier: all your lists are automatically saved under the "Generated Vocabulary List" tab on your My Conversion page.
Q: How can I share the word list to others?
A: It's super simple. Just copy the unique URL of your list from the browser and send it to your students or friends.
Q: Can others edit my word list?
A: No worries, your list is safe. Only the original creator of the list has the permission to edit it.
Q: Can I export the word list?
A: Definitely. Click the "Export" button on your list page, and you can download it as an Excel file, a CSV, or a PDF.

Q: Does this tool support Simplified or Traditional Chinese characters?
A: Both Simplified and Traditional Chinese are supported
Q: Can I edit the generated vocabulary list?
A: Yes, if you have a valid Pro account and you are the creator of the list, you'll see "Add Word" button plus an "Edit" link next to each term.
When editing Pinyin, just type the tone number at the end (e.g., use
5 for a neutral tone) and type u: for the letter ü. For instance, typing lu:3 zi5 will automatically convert to lǚ zi.
Q: Some of the words in the generated word list are without English explanation. What can I do?
A: We have a built-in dictionary which includes around 150,000 common Chinese phrases. If the word is not in this dictionary, then you will see an empty English field.
Pro Tip: If you have a Pro account, you can click the "Edit" button and use the Auto-Translation icon to quickly fetch a translation!
