Newspapers are useful sources of historical data. The ournalists is recording history in a truthful way.
The year 2018 marked the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up. Over the past 30 years, as a reporter for Guangming Daily, I have covered many events, including the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the China-France Cultural Year, the Boao Forum for Asia, and the Summer Davos Forum and interviewed many political leaders, CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, influential business leaders, and famous writers and artists from all over the world.
They shared their views on China's reform and opening-up policy and changes brought by the policy to China.I wrote fair and true reports of these interviews, which have been published in Guangming Daily. This book is a collection of hundreds of such reports.
There are several reasons why I interviewed these foreigners. Over the past 30 years, due to misrepresentation in mainstream western media, the outside world views China through the lenses of "China collapse theory" and "China threat theory." Many foreigners had an unfavorable view of China. They believe China is an irresponsible power. How to eradicate the bias of the international community against China? In addition to directly using media to debunk fake news, it is also important to create platforms to allow the outside world to read foreigners' experience and stories about China. This is why I wrote this book and I believe I have fulfilled this purpose.

I have interviewed many foreign politicians. King Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia said: "It's the CPC that set China on its road to independence and glory." Former President of the European Commission Jacques Santer said it is the EU's desire to deepen cooperation with China. China's economy is growing rapidly, Clunese people's living standards are im-proving, and they are living in better houses and wearing better clothes. This is a good thing for China and a good thing for the world. The world should not fear China's rise." I invited former Australian Prime Miruster Kevin Rudd to have a dialogue with He Dongping, the then editor-in-chief of Cuangming Daily. He said: "I have noticed that the Chinese government attaches great importance to innovation.Chinese government officials talk a lot about innovation. The Chi-nese people are getting better at innovation."to economic growth, countries should pay attention to the other two pillars-social and environmental progress - for sustainable development.PresidentXi pointed out the right direction for Asian countries in terms of economic development.Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who has dedicated himself to supporting global health and development irutiatives, said the theme of the 2013 BFA annual conference was very good and he was inspired by President Xi Jin-ping's call on the international community to empower developing countries to be self-sustaining.Klaus Schwab, executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, said, based on China's achievements over the past 32 years, he believed that China would definitely fulfillits role as an active and responsible stakeholder in shap-ing the future of the world. Then EU Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy said, "China is making active efforts to fulfillits WTO commitments."Some may ask, "Did these politicians and entrepreneurs speak frankly about Cruna?" I believe their words were sincere and real.As the most learned people of our era, they appreciate the tremendousopment of China to the worldopportunities brought by the devel-Former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin told me in an intefview: "China's economic reform has provided French companies, especially SMEs, with an opportunity to enter the Chinese market.I have led French delegations of French companies to China several times." He gave me a book written by him about China as a gift. His belief in "China opporturuty theory" is rooted in what he saw in China.
Former President of the European Commission Jacques Santer has been instrumentalin building China-EU relations.I have known Mr.Santer for a long time.I have visited his office in Luxembourg and had dinner with him.
