"Chinese Characters and Reading" is a reading textbook suitable for students at the pre-intermediate level (around HSK level 3). This textbook is currently used in the Chinese reading and writing course of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Jinan University. This course is an excellent undergraduate course of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature and was also selected for the 2023 Jinan University "Golden Course" construction project. It is divided into two volumes. The second volume also includes ten lessons: the radicals of Chinese characters (6)-(14) and the phonetic components of Chinese characters. By combining the study of Chinese characters with selected readings, the textbook deepens readers' understanding of the evolution of Chinese characters and improves their comprehension of Chinese characters and their ability to read Chinese.
