China Compendium of Statistics 1949-2004 is compiled by Department of Comprehensive Statistics of National Bureau of Statistics of China. It is a Chinese-English version book with full accurate reliable and authoritative data. It reflects the economic and social development of China as a whole and its 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities under the direct jurisdiction of the central government between 1949 and 2004; and that of Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR since their return to the mainland. This book contains three major parts with 34 chapters. The first part is national level information and data. The second part contains data from provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities under the direct jurisdiction of the central government. The third part contains data from Hong Kong SAR since 1997 and Macao SAR since 1999. There are over 300 indicators in this book covering division of administrative areas, natural assets, national accounts, population, employment, investment in fixed assets, energy, finance, price indices, environment protection, agriculture, industry, construction, transport, post and telecommunication, domestic trade, foreign trade, tourism, financial intermediation, education, science and technology, culture, sports, health and other areas.
