晚明清初时期是小品文的辉煌时期。当时的作品之多，流派之众，风格之卓异，在中国古代散文史上堪称空前。与早期小品文相比，明清小品文的题材更加丰富，形 式更加自由，既有对社会现实的关注，又有对人生处世、生活情趣的关注。《明清小品文(汉英对照)(精)》按作家年代先后顺序，选译了明清两代百余作家的各 类小品文名篇佳作共127篇，其中明代小品文82篇，清代小品文45篇，力求较为全面反映明清两代小品文的总体成就及发展历程。英译者王宏教授擅长典籍英 译，有多部译著收入《大中华文库》，其中包括《墨子》、《梦溪笔谈》、《国语》、《山海经》和《明清小品文》。
Late Ming and early Qing dynasty was the brilliant period for essays. It can be considered unprecedented for the large amount of the works, the large numbers of the schools and the variety of the styles in the history of Chinese ancient prose.
