Dr. Zhang exclusively followed a captive-born giant panda named Qian Qian for more than 300 days and recorded her daily growth from a tiny cub to a huge adult, from weak to strong.
Dr. Zhang Zhihe has worked on conservation research and management of endangered wildlife for more than thirty years. He is currently the Director and Secretary of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, the Director of the Sichuan Key Laboratory of Conservation Biology for Endangered Wildlife, the Vice President of the Chinese Association of Zoological Gardens, and a member of the Giant Panda Conservation Management Consulting Committee. Dr. Zhang was awarded with the State Council Special Allowance for his expertise and won the inaugural “Sichuan Outstanding Talent Award”.
