Obtaining Refined Enjoyment: The Qianlong Emperor's Taste in Ceramics" demonstrates the depth of the Qianlong Emperor's collection and reveals his taste in ceramics. The exhibit as a whole is divided into two parts, "Poetry as Record" and "Taste Re-Presented," offering two different views on the Qianlong Emperor's examination and appreciation of ceramics. In terms of the number of ceramics bearing his imperial poetry, the National Palace Museum collection is of special note in that it ranks first in the world. In addition, the Museum's collection of illustrated albums dealing with the subject of ceramics is rarely seen in other museums. As a result, this exhibition not only provides viewers with an understanding, via seals and inscriptions of appreciation, about how the Qianlong Emperor personally treated different types of ceramics in his collection. At the same time, the display, following the research and organization of the objects' background, sufficiently demonstrates the unique contents of the National Palace Museum collection.
