法轮殿位于第六进院落，是雍和宫最大的殿堂，俗称“大经堂”。法轮殿平面呈十字形，左右分别为班禅楼和戒台楼。三殿并列，气势宏伟。法轮殿的建筑形式体现了汉藏佛寺建筑艺术的交融。自清代以来，这里一直是僧人诵经、举行佛事活动的场所。
