The content of the texts is closely linked to real life, and someinvolve cross-cultural communication, such as discussions on how to buy booksonline, how to address strangers, as well as accounts of social issues,scientific knowledge, and life stories. Each lesson is composed of three parts:Pre-task, While-task, and Post-task. In Pre-task, the “Free Talk” section isdesigned for full warm-up, activating background knowledge and removinglanguage barriers to increase the proportion of content that can be understood.In While-task, through exercises that progress from easy to difficult, learnersare guided to use correct listening strategies and gradually achievecomprehension of the texts. Post-task deepens the content and focuses onlanguage forms, including discussions on in-class topics or after-classsurveys, as well as consolidation exercises for the language knowledge learnedin the lesson. After completing this textbook, learners will be able to graspthe main content and viewpoints of familiar conversations or speeches, identifythe main content and key information in dialogues or conversations withinspecific materials, and understand the speakers’ intentions, comprehend thegeneral meaning of narrative and argumentative discourses at the intermediateentry level, roughly understand longer stories on familiar topics, and conductgeneral communication with native Chinese speakers on common topics.
