Adapted on the basis of the first and second editions of ChineseParadise, this is a series of international Chinese teaching materialsspecially designed for non-Chinese primary school students.
The new edition has 6 levels intotal, covering Chinese language teaching in primary schools overseas fromgrade 1 to grade 6. The content and form of this set are in line withchildren’s cognitive level, and the themes are close to life. Through entertainingstories, games and children’s songs, this book is able to stimulate learninginterest, allowing students to learn Chinese language and culture in a naturaland relaxing environment.
Each level of the teaching materials includes textbooks (paper-based textbooks + E-textbooks), paper-based workbooks, and a resource zone, which contains rich digital teaching resources such as courseware, animations, audios, realistic videos, interactive games, word cards, picture cards, Chinese character writing paper, tests, children’s song sheet music and accompaniments, etc.
This volume is Textbook 6, suitable for overseas sixth-grade primaryschool students who have mastered approximately 910 Chinese words. It coversthemes such as transportation and Internet, stories of historical figures, animalsand plants, phenomenon of nature, dreams, and is equipped with digitalresources including workbooks, scene animations, realistic videos, audios,teaching courseware, and supplementary teaching resources. After completingthis volume, learners are expected to master approximately 260 Chinese words.

Abouth the Author
Cui Yonghua, editor-in-chief, is aprofessor at BLCU, who has been devoted to Chinese language teaching andresearch in BLCU since 1981 when he graduated from the Chinese Department ofPeking University with a Master’s degree in Literature. Mr. Cui used to teachin Oberlin College (the US), the Summer Chinese Program of Middlebury College (theUS), the University of G?ttingen (Germany), and the University ofSheffield (the UK). Cui’s research mainly focuses on Chinese language teaching,Chinese grammar and Chinese information processing. Cui’s previous works include: Classroom Techniques for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (ed.), Studieson Teaching Chinese Characters and Words to Foreigners (ed.), Teachingand Research of Chinese as a Foreign Language (collection of essays), AnIntroduction to Design of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (soloauthorship), Selected Works of CLT Experts—Works of CuiYonghua (collection of essays), Chinese Now! (ed.), New Concept Chinese (ed.), Chinese Reading for PracticalPurposes: Step by Step series (general ed.), and so on.
Zhang Jian, editor-in-chief, is a PhD in Literature from Beijing Languageand Culture University (BLCU), an editorial reviewer, a part-time researcher ofthe Research Institute of International Chinese Language Education of BLCU, andwas formerly the chairman and chief editor of Beijing Language and CultureUniversity Press. Having been engaged in the development and research ofteaching resources for international Chinese language education for more than20 years, Zhang has presided over one project of the Ministry of Education, twouniversity-level projects, and five provincial and ministerial projects of theMinistry of Finance, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Press andPublication Administration, etc., and has founded the academic journal Journalof International Chinese Teaching. She has published more than 20 papers in China Publishing Journal, Science-Technology & Publication and other journals. She has developed more than 20 sets of Chinese languageteaching materials for overseas Chinese education system, including EverydayChinese: Chinese Course Book for Middle Schools in Thailand (chosen by morethan 100 middle schools in Thailand), Chinese Paradise (translated into47 languages),  Easy Steps to Chinese (incorporated into the teaching materials systems of 5 states of U.S.A.), and NewPractical Chinese Reader (chosen by more than 200 universities around theworld). Zhang has been honored as one of the national “Cultural Masters andFour Batches of Talents”, the national leading talent in press and publicationand the national internet innovator in press and publication in 2015 and 2017.Meanwhile, the Chinese Paradise with multimedia CD-ROM she presided overhas won the second China Publishing Government Award.
