Tourism is a service industry.

But this should be less of a problem than it used to be now that economies are based on services not manufacturing.

Finally, China should be at the front of talks to liberalize services -- not dragging the rear, as it is now.

Instead, I see lots of opportunities in the service industry in this country, including hotels, clothing, education and catering.

The reason: in China, growth in services generates about 35% more jobs per unit of GDP than does an average unit of manufacturing and construction GDP.
