Hunan and Anhui - the two provinces with confirmed cases - are among the recently affected provinces.

To be sure, these are very often migrants from provinces like Anhui or Jiangsu, or even further afield.

The cases have occurred in 7 provinces and regions: Anhui, Guangxi, Liaoning, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hunan, and Sichuan.

The drought has hit at least 12 provinces, including the wheat-producing areas in Henan, Anhui and Shandong provinces.
