1		yǔ 禹、 jì 稷 dāng 当 píng 平 shì 世， sān 三 guò 过 qí 其 mén 门 ér 而 bù 不 rù 入， kǒng zǐ 孔子 xián 贤 zhī 之。 Yu and Ji, in an age when the world was being brought back to order, thrice passed their doors without entering them. Confucius praised them.
2		dōng 冬 bō 播 de 的 zuò wù 作物 rú 如 dà mài 大麦 hé 和 jì 稷， zài 在 qiáng liè 强烈 de 的 rì zhào 日照 xià 下 hěn kuài 很快 chéng shú 成熟。 Winter-sown crops, like barley and millet, quickly ripen in the strong sun.
3		dào 稻、 liáng 粱、 shū 菽、 mài 麦、 shǔ 黍、 jì 稷 shì 是 liù 六 zhòng 种 liáng shi 粮食， tā men 它们 shì 是 rén lèi 人类 de 的 zhǔ yào 主要 shí wù 食物。 Rice, Sorghum, beans, wheat, glutinous millet and common millet; these six grains are what people eat.
