A New Chinese Course is a series of Chinese textbooks designed for Chinese beginners overseas. Altogether there are four volumes, each of which including one textbook, one workbook and one set of recording CD.
Adopting the principle of progressive learning, it starts from Chinese phonetics, progresses gradually to dialogue training, then to short articles.
The whole series cover 3,000 commonly used words, 1,500 commonly used Chinese characters, more than 300 grammar points, 243 functional items, and 430 functional points.
Each lesson centers on 4 to 8 functional items to train students’ communicative ability in Chinese. All the settings are in foreign countries therefore students will find at home when learning.Five topics such as Individual, Family, School, Friends, and Society are cycled eight times in volumes 1&2 with four in each volume. Appendix such as Vocabulary, Table of Cycles of Topics, Outline of Functions, Index of Grammar Points can be found at the end of each textbook.
