The Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council Information Office, with the support of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee, and China International Publishing Group, have compiled a fifth volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China. This volume is designed to help officials and the public further understand and apply Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and to impress upon them the critical importance of affirming Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and affirming the guiding role of the Thought. This volume is aimed at strengthening their commitment to the Four Consciousnesses, the Four-sphere Confidence, and the Two Upholds, and guiding them to work in unity to realize the grand blueprint drawn at the 20th CPC National Congress. It is also intended that this volume will keep the international community abreast of the latest developments in the Thought and provide them with a better understanding of China’s vision, approaches and ideas, to create synergy for implementing the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, and building a community with a shared future for humanity.
This volume contains a compilation of 91 of Xi Jinping’s spoken and written works from May 27, 2022 to December 20, 2024, including some that are being published for the first time, along with 41 photographs taken during this period. It is divided into 18 sections by topic, with the articles in each section arranged in chronological order. For ease of reading, notes are provided at the end of relevant articles.

The Communist Party of China was founded in 1921 with only 50 members from the beginning. At that time, China was in political turmoil, the people were living in stark poverty, and its international status was low. Before and after that, nearly 100 political parties had emerged in China, but most of them were short-lived and inactive. History has shown that only the CPC has been able to unite and lead the people in common struggle, grow and develop through trials and tribulations, establish New China, achieve national independence and basic unification, and then pioneer a socialist modernization path in line with China’s national conditions, which has resulted in a historic transformation of China. The reason for this is that the Communist Party of China comes from the people and always adheres to its original aspiration and founding mission of working for the happiness of the people.

Die Öffentlichkeitsabteilung des ZK der KPCh (das Presseamt des Staatsrates der Volksrepublik China) hat in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Forschungsinstitut für Parteigeschichte und Dokumente beim ZK der KPCh und der China International Communications Group den vierten Band von Xi Jinping, China regieren zusammengestellt, damit die internationale Gemeinschaft über die aktuelle Entwicklung der Xi-Jinping-Ideen des Sozialismus chinesischer Prägung im neuen Zeitalter auf dem Laufenden bleiben, die Gründe für die erzielten Erfolge der KPCh und des chinesischen Volkes sowie deren gute Erfolgsaussichten besser nachvollziehen und tiefere Einblicke in Chinas Weg, Regierungsmodell und Theorie gewinnen kann.

Dieser Band enthält 109 Reden und Schriften von Xi Jinping aus dem Zeitraum vom 3. Februar 2020 bis 10. Mai 2022, die in 21 Themenbereiche eingeteilt und jeweils chronologisch angeordnet sind. Zum besseren Verständnis finden sich am Ende einiger Texte erläuternde Anmerkungen. Vervollständigt wird das Werk durch 45 Fotos von Xi Jinping seit Januar 2020.

Since its founding in 1921, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has traversed a glorious journey of more than one hundred years. This century-long history has been written with blood, sweat, tears, courage, wisdom, and strength. It is a century of overcoming adversity and obstacles, of diligent work and ceaseless progress, full of challenges and miracles. It is a century of glory forged through suffering, rising with determination after setbacks, reaping success from exploration, setting things right after mistakes, opening up new horizons in transitions, and winning the future through relentless struggle.

The pursuit of national independence, the liberation of the people, national prosperity, and the people’s happiness is the theme and main thread of the Party’s century-long history; relentless struggle, no fear of sacrifice, theoretical exploration, ensuring the people’s wellbeing, and self-improvement are its mainstream and essence; advancing the cause of revolution, development, reform, and rejuvenation is its distinctive feature; and achieving the goals of saving, revitalizing, enriching, and strengthening the nation is the solemn mission of the Party throughout its history in the past century.

The Party’s history of more than one hundred years can be divided into four periods: the period of the new-democratic revolution from the establishment of the Party in July 1921 to the founding of the People’s Republic of China in October 1949; the period of socialist revolution and development from October 1949 to the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee in December 1978; the new period of reform, opening up, and socialist modernization from December 1978 to the 18th National Party Congress in November 2012; and the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics from November 2012 to the present. In these four historical periods, the Party has completed and advanced four major tasks. These tasks have forged the century-long glory of the Communist Party of China.
