Details Lang shining, or Giuseppe Castiglione (1688--1766), was a missionary from Italy who served as a painter in the royal court during the reigns of Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty(1644--1911), His paintings are combination of traditional Chinese and Western styles ,and ate featured by grandeur, elegance ,and nobility, thus winning favor from the emperors, They are of great significance because they depict many historical events the painter witnessed.
